theholidayfarm, you need to be awared of the announcement on EX-Dividend Date (Ex-Div Date) rather than day of announcement. once Ex-Div date is known, if you want to get dividend, you must HOLD the share until the Ex-D date. |

When such thing happen, the work is done in buying-in market. See CDP website info: Buying-in Market There is a high settlement success rate in the Singapore securities market. However, in the event of failed settlement, CDP steps in and closes off any outstanding position in the buying-in market. This is conducted on the day following due date. Buying-in is effected against the SGX-ST Member Company, which has executed the failed trade. On the day of buying-in, CDP enters a list of securities to be bought-in into SESOPS at 11:15 a.m., naming the security, the number to be bought, the trade date and the price. The price bid begins at two minimum bids above the closing price of the previous day, the current last transacted price or the current bid price, whichever is the highest. CDP will seek recovery of any loss in closing off an outstanding position from the respective Member Company. The Member Company will in turn seek recovery from its client. Settlement for the buying-in market is trade day. CDP retains the brokerage commission on the trade. |

You may just read up from CDP website on what is called BUYING-IN Market, this is when the seller cannot deliver on due date and CDP shall step in to close the 'failed transaction' on the buy-in market: I just copy their website material here for ease of reading : Buying-in Market There is a high settlement success rate in the Singapore securities market. However, in the event of failed settlement, CDP steps in and closes off any outstanding position in the buying-in market. This is conducted on the day following due date. Livermore, I understand your position of not recommending specific stock. Thanks for sharing your investment theme. I also felt China and India are coming powerhouse. May be 10 years later their combined economy shall be very large. I read about BRIC, Brazil and Russia in additions to India and China. Oil and Gas, oh well, made some money out of some stocks and left already, lucky. Just waiting for right time to buy back again Good Luck, hope all is well |

At this price, the last dividend of 39cents worked out to be some 11%!! that is very high Cut from previous post by Pinnacle: Trading at a low P/NTA valuation. With a NTA of S$3.18/share, HLF is only trading at 1.2x P/NTA. This is low relative to the P/RNTA of 2.0x average for the 3 Singapore banks. We have factored a discount for HLF (given its much smaller asset base) ? our fair P/NTA valuation for HLF is 1.6x, which gives a price target of S$5.00. |

Livermore, I read that if you hold too many counters you need to press a lot of calculators to know your position. But now is internet age, it is very easy to know position using free finance tool, Yahoo Finance tool is free and yet very fast, abeit 15 minute lag on Singapore stocks and may be 30 minutes on Hong Kong stock., stock price are updated by streaming without you having to keep pressing keyboard, just enjoy coffee and watch the price movement. If a person need faster he can pay for the service for ON-time update. It sounded like for your case the free service is good eonugh. For your info, you can key in all the costs like transaction cost, commision at buy, sell, cash in, cash out, Dividend, etc so your position is really almost known, especially when you choose the performance report ( in which gain loss are immediately view and known), subject to the 15 minutes delay on their data streams coming through the stock exchanges. Also some people might handle multiple portfolio for many reasons, it is very easy to see total positions by clicking. Just need to set browsers to have tab browsing for fast viewing on each portfolio. |
