You sell 1.0, so you have 1.0. When you buy back 1.2, this 0.2 you get from where? From your pocket! you lost.

Hi Shweli, you should know your target before you put money on the shares.  These two counters will only let you make money holding on a longer term basis.  The reason:  Midas has gone up to its year's high of 89 cents, so it all depends on what was your original buy price.  Likewise with Swiber, the target price will also depend on your entry price.  I will sell at 1.03 and if it goes beyond 1.03  I buy and my target moves up to 1.20 and again should it go above 1.20 then I buy and my new target moves up to  1.46.  So each individual player plays his own style.  Hope you understand.

Hi Senior laulan,

I am newbie. I also bought Midas and Swiber. My TP are 0.95 and 1.07. Could you share your TP? Thanks.

Btw, I should posted at proper thread.

Thanks Cheongwee, my best regards to you.  I sold my SAR and now buying Midas and Swiber.  Ya also some Mermaid and Healthway that you mentioned.  Now holding about 10 counters.  My very long term will be laggard Mr. BIG, and steadfast banker DBS.  I think the market is mainly consolidating these few days.  It looks very much like bullish divergence (becoming bearish) because although the ST Index continued to go up, but most counters' prices continued to come down or refused to close higher highs.  However, a continuous upbeat in Wall Street could boost the sentiments and turn SGX's bearishness into a consolidation phase or base building phase.  My take is not to sell everything, otherwise will pay higher next round.  It is best to keep those who have not gone up in tendem with the market these few months.  These buggers should soon synchronise with the overall market and move up.. but when I dont know. It could be when there are some corrections in the DOW.

Hi richtan,

Thanks for your kind reply, but something missing of ""see my below reply to shweli."" Look like I am saying about q volume.

Thnx in advance.

richtan      ( Date: 03-Aug-2009 22:41) Posted:

Hi raymondng,

I think u are confused between the "buy q volume / sell q volume" and the "Trade Summary" ie, trade vol done at the "buy q /sell q", see my below reply to shweli.

raymondho      ( Date: 03-Aug-2009 18:40) Posted:

Thanks. I still blur blur, may be my right brian does not work properly.

I just know the total selling greater than buying is a sign of buying up, but really confuss why so high the selling vol is buy up sign.

My brian still stuck there, since  so  many selling queue, there must be a down sign. When I go to place order, if the sell vol is high I know I can place a buy queue one bit lower as sellers may not want to wait and sell down to me. Anyway will go to search as suggested.

Hi pilotfish,

Eg of "play punk" candles besides such thing as "play-punk" volume, dun be tricked just by looking at the closing candle and volume, must know wat actually transpired during the trading hours.

richtan      ( Date: 31-Jul-2009 19:00) Posted:

Hi pilotfish,

Yes, I do know tat volume at close is the norm used but I still also pay attention to intraday volume as a gauge of the strength, eg if during the day, the volume keeps increasing with the price but towards the close, the price starts to drop, it tells me tat there is fake pushing of the price down, a  trap to create a false impression of down volume, thus why there is such thing as fake candle and such thing as divergence.

To an experienced trader, we monitor the dynamics of the mkt such as the intraday volume to better understand the strength during the trading day n decipher any "play punk" eg look at STI, was up the whole day but during the last 2 hours was being pushed down to almost flat but near closing was being pushed up again.

Hi pilotfish,

Congrats to your profit-taking.

Nothing wrong to take profit as long as u are satisfied.

But for me, I always remember by heart n abide by my 3 golden mantras, one of which is:

"Let profits ride with trailing stops n cut-losses short" - reason being, we need to maximise our profits to

cover all those lossing trades n yet make net profits.

Not sure you know this, if one of the multinational active pharma ingredients company in Tuas shuts down for a week, it will drag the country's GDP,  if one take it to full capacity it will show increase of the GDP quite noticably, this is how sensitive (small) Singapore economy is to the pharma industry and guess how much is one kilo of these active ingredients? Definately cost more than gold! So the last GDP figure not really becoz of Biosensors, they are really insignificant compare with the drug substance manufacturers in Tuas. Chinese say "little wu" meet "big wu". However we know Biosensors sales was strengthen and on the up trend, hopefully they deliver better results in Sales which is important. Cost is dependent on the development and regulatory projects they are running and other corporate stuff. If sales revenue goes up then it is time to cheong !

Thanks a lot jeremyow, it is useful for me.

jeremyow      ( Date: 21-Jul-2009 10:53) Posted:

It is not easy to forecast accurately the future of any company. What we investors can do is only make our forecast based on current and past financial figures (from their annual reports) and business performance of the company so far. Tat Hong has been in it's business for more than 10 years already and has since grown into now a global player. It has also weathered a few financial downturns before and still stands. It has actively expanded it's business into Australia (by acquiring the Tutt Bryant group and other smaller crane and heavy machinery companies) and is now looking at expanding into China. It has established it's presence in Australia already and plans to do so for China too. Now, it is working on a joint venture with Fushun Yongmao Construction Machinery company in China to establish it's presence in China. It is going to be a competitive showdown in China with the many crane and heavy machinery companies operating there. However, to be successful in business to become the market leader, the company has no choice but to compete agressively or else it will never be able to grow it's business to a new level.

As China's government is starting more infrastructure and construction projects in China, there will be a lot of potential business opportunities for Tat Hong and it's other competitors in the years to come. Tat Hong is already changing it's business model more into rental than sales, so this should provide more stable recurring income for the years to come. I look at Tat Hong as an evergreen company that has stand established through the years since it started and has gone through tough times and still endures. This speaks of the management's capability to maintain the growth of it's business through good and bad times. Much still remains to the results of the expansion of it's business into China. Let's hope this company continues to endure and grow it's business further. I think Tat Hong may have potential to become a world market leader in the sales and rental of cranes and heavy machinery parts business if it can continue to grow it's prescence strategically globally.

<Just my two cents worth. Nobody can predict accurately the future of a business. We can only make an intelletual guess based on the company's current and past performance and hope our guess is correct in future.>
