Wheelock posts 76% rise in full-year gross profit to $330m

Wheelock Properties, the luxury property developer, today announced a revenue of $572 million and gross profit of $330 million for the full year ended 31 December 2010.

This is an increase of 48% and 76% respectively when compared to financial year 2009 led mainly to higher revenue recognition from Scotts Square based on construction progress and from the sale of units in Orchard View in FY2010. Gross profit margin improved to 58% from 48% last year.

The group’s investment properties also saw an increase of $55.5 million as a result of the fair value gain on the revaluation of Wheelock Place, which was revalued from $794.5 million to $850 million.

The group has a healthy Cash and Cash equivalents position of $861 million as at 31 December 2010 as compared to $759 million held as at 31 December 2009. This increase was largely attributed to the progress billings from sales of units at Ardmore II and Scotts Square as well as sale of units in Orchard View in FY2010.

Wheelock says its revenue and earnings will be further bolstered by the recognition of remaining profits on sold units at Scotts Square. Progress billings between 45% and 55% have been served on Scotts Square and we expect to achieve 85% in 2011 when the project obtains its Temporary Occupation Permit (TOP). About 100% of profits will also be recognised on additional units sold in the completed Orchard View.

Midas should be able to buck market trend as property cooling measures or middle east chaos have no direct bearing or impact

No need to quarrel. You have your feel, I have mine.

But, on the  other hand, I too feel this is a good stock. Just that, sentiments are all against at the moment. Will go back up, but just need more time than you think.

Drop a few cents each day can be quite scary.  Must be brave to cut loss.

I am afraid people are buying as they thought it is dirt cheap to go in.

Anyway, Jaya had not been spectacular during the bulls.

Jackpot2010      ( Date: 14-Feb-2011 14:51) Posted:

My gut feel is it won't go so low as 48c. No one knows the game plan of BBs. They can scare ppl to sell then rebound sharply. So far no panic selling  b'cos  Only 10m out of 355m (free float excluding new investors' holding) done, i.e. < 3% of free float.

Not necessary.

Just an example like beyonics... consolidated to 60 cents per share but always hover around 20 cents..  a huge drop that never recovers even when it is profitable

Have invested in Dec as I feel the stock is under valued at current price (P/E and P/Book). Hope you are right that soon there will be more traction on this counter. Interim dividends should help a bit on pushing up the price.

The TP was 1.20 before the oil price hike.  Company is profitable with good dividend yield.  There is upside potential unless the market sentiment turns bad

raffles education support at 0.3 with the 2 haramis at 0.3 located respectively. Buying now and setting a S/L below 0.3 is a good way to go ... However MA and MACD is showing downward movements and hence a breach of 0.3 is more then likely. If you wish to, short at 0.31 and set a S/L above 0.32 ideally, 0.33 to include flucuation. Tp price at 0.30 to take out half your sizing and the other half to take at 0.285 before a possible bounce and close at 0.29 due to support. Happy CNY
