Continuing explosion of new ship orders worldwide

 

 

      In the past week, the market conditions improved more confidence to the shipowners, to further increase the amount of new ship orders. Keppel Corp Ltd (NEUTRAL, TP SGD 11.21) and Sembcorp Marine Ltd (NEUTRAL, TP SGD 4.65), the world's top offshore rig-makers, stand to be among the winners from Beijing's moves to tighten credit amid a downturn at China's shipyards. The two companies have been under huge pressure from Chinese yards offering enticing payment terms, price discounts and help with financing. That may change as Beijing moves to cut credit to industries plagued with overcapacity. New ship orders for Chinese builders fell by about half last year amid a global shipping downturn. The credit crunch at Chinese shipyards will strengthen the negotiating powers of Keppel Corp and Sembcorp Marine with customers who use Chinese yards’ terms to negotiate for better prices. China leads the global orderbook for mobile drilling units, which include jackups, semi-submersibles, drillships, drilling barges and tender rigs, with a total of 56 units on order, followed by South Korea (55) and Singapore (42) as of early June, according to data from Clarkson Research Services. We currently have a NEUTRAL rating on both Keppel and Sembcorp Marine as their EPS outlook for the next two years is flat, which does not justify more than the mid-cycle valuations their stocks are currently priced at. x 0 		市 场 需 求 萎 缩 ， 加 上 人 民 币 升 值 、 融 资 成 本 高 ， 导 致 造 船 业 陷 入 困 境 。 以 南 通 海 工 装 备 手 持 订 单 64亿 美 元 估 算 ， 今 年 以 来 人 民 币 升 值 使 企 业 损 失 6亿 元 人 民 币 。 目 前 船 东 首 付 只 有 20%左 右 ， 泰 州 个 别 船 厂 订 单 首 付 仅 2%， 其 余 尾 款 不 再 像 以 前 按 进 度 付 款 ， 而 是 交 船 时 一 次 付 清 ， 大 量 垫 资 让 船 厂 一 筹 莫 展 。 造 船 已 被 银 行 列 入 限 贷 行 业 ， 资 金 跟 不 上 极 易 崩 盘 。



　 　 高 端 转 型 ， 应 避 免 低 价 互 掐

　 　 眼 下 ， 不 少 船 厂 寄 希 望 于 高 端 转 型 ， 殊 不 知 其 中 的 较 量 更 为 严 峻 。

　 　 在 南 通 中 远 船 务 工 程 有 限 公 司 ， 几 个 近 百 米 高 的 庞 然 大 物 坐 落 江 边 ， 这 就 是 深 水 钻 探 储 油 平 台 和 海 上 风 电 设 备 安 装 船 。 “没 有 过 硬 的 技 术 能 力 不 可 能 站 稳 海 工 ， 中 远 南 通 两 大 基 地 订 单 之 和 ， 占 国 内 海 工 订 单 的 一 半 。 ”公 司 副 总 经 理 杨 易 川 坦 言 ， 不 少 船 厂 前 来 考 察 试 图 向 海 工 转 型 ， 看 完 后 就 打 退 堂 鼓 。

　 　 我 省 正 在 制 订 《 加 快 船 舶 产 业 转 型 升 级 与 海 洋 工 程 装 备 发 展 三 年 工 作 方 案 (2013-2015年 )》 ， 强 调 “坚 持 自 主 创 新 、 突 破 关 键 核 心 技 术 ”， 除 引 导 企 业 向 海 工 装 备 转 型 外 ， 还 鼓 励 发 展 特 种 船 、 节 能 环 保 型 船 舶 。

　 　 相 比 传 统 船 舶 ， 海 工 装 备 定 制 性 强 、 系 统 复 杂 ， 发 展 路 径 有 所 差 异 。 最 近 ， 南 通 明 德 重 工 董 事 长 季 风 华 赴 欧 美 和 中 国 香 港 拜 会 客 户 ， 与 美 国 客 户 初 步 达 成 协 议 ， 在 当 地 建 造 集 炼 化 、 运 输 等 于 一 体 的 移 动 工 厂 。 但 让 他 头 疼 的 是 ， 国 内 船 企 为 争 订 单 ， 互 相 压 价 ， “有 的 客 户 在 其 他 企 业 询 价 后 再 来 谈 判 ， 开 价 低 得 不 敢 接 ”。 对 同 一 类 海 工 产 品 ， 国 内 船 企 报 价 最 多 比 国 外 竞 争 对 手 低 15%。 这 固 然 与 国 内 劳 动 力 成 本 、 原 材 料 价 格 较 低 有 关 ， 但 对 中 国 海 工 在 国 际 市 场 声 誉 造 成 影 响 ， 且 易 引 发 低 价 竞 争 。 多 家 骨 干 企 业 呼 吁 ， 应 借 鉴 日 本 船 企 经 验 ， 成 立 行 业 性 联 盟 ， 将 海 工 装 备 价 格 保 持 在 合 理 水 平 。

are all   belong to china gov .  cosco and yangzijiang are top 10 in china

cosco and yangzijiang also belong to china gov , so the contract will be in bags for both ship builder

Offshore & Marine: Contrasting Yard Fortunes (Overweight)
 Recent industry developments reinforce our positive views on Singapore rigbuilders. Central to our argument is that Chinese and Korean competition will not bring down average rig prices and lead to future margin decline.


 We see 2 possible repercussions from Chinese shipbuilder, China Rongsheng’s recent financial woes: (1) Customers may become less willing to award orders to Chinese yards for fear that they cannot deliver, (2) Rapid flushing out of excess capacities, accelerating sector recovery. Either way, this would ease competition for offshore orders. Korean shipbuilder, Hyundai Heavy also indicated the intention to raise shipbuilding prices. A return of shipbuilding orders could also ease offshore competition.


 We see stable earnings outlook for the Singapore rigbuilders (Keppel Corp & Sembcorp Marine) ahead of 2Q13 results season, but flag possible downside risks for the Chinese shipbuilders (Cosco & Yangzijiang). 　 　 财 富 世 界 500强 排 名 榜 单 上 众 多 的 中 国 企 业 群 星 璀 璨 ， 令 人 欣 喜 。 有 不 少 专 家 、 学 者 和 企 业 负 责 人 对 这 一 榜 单 进 行 了 深 入 解 读 。

　 　 “说 是 ‘500强 ’， 其 实 看 《 财 富 》 杂 志 （ Fortune） 英 文 版 就 可 以 知 道 ， ‘Global 500’译 成 中 文 ， 表 述 为 ‘500家 ’或 许 更 为 客 观 。 ”财 政 部 财 政 科 学 研 究 所 研 究 员 周 放 生 对 记 者 说 ， “仔 细 研 究 可 以 看 到 ， ‘500强 ’中 有 不 少 亏 损 企 业 ， 其 中 不 乏 中 国 企 业 。 ”尽 管 越 来 越 多 的 人 知 道 《 财 富 》 “Global 500”排 序 的 依 据 是 企 业 营 业 收 入 ， 反 映 的 是 经 营 规 模 ， 与 转 变 发 展 方 式 、 提 升 创 新 能 力 的 方 向 并 不 一 致 ， 但 大 家 仍 习 惯 上 称 之 为 “世 界 500强 ”排 名 。

　 　 国 务 院 国 资 委 研 究 中 心 研 究 员 胡 迟 介 绍 说 ， 国 外 比 较 有 影 响 的 企 业 评 价 还 有 《 福 布 斯 》 的 企 业 排 行 榜 ， 主 要 是 依 据 企 业 的 资 产 规 模 ， 另 外 ， 英 国 《 金 融 时 报 》 对 上 市 公 司 每 年 也 有 一 个 排 名 ， 主 要 依 据 上 市 公 司 某 一 个 时 间 节 点 的 市 值 。 无 论 哪 种 指 标 ， 都 有 其 参 考 价 值 ， 也 都 有 其 局 限 性 。

　 　 另 一 方 面 ， 尽 管 一 批 通 过 市 场 竞 争 强 大 起 来 的 竞 争 性 行 业 的 企 业 进 入 “500强 ”当 之 无 愧 ， 如 中 国 建 材 集 团 、 中 国 医 药 集 团 ， 但 当 前 最 紧 迫 的 是 按 照 “十 二 五 ”规 划 要 求 ， 推 动 企 业 由 “大 ”转 “强 ”。 片 面 追 求 规 模 指 标 不 利 于 企 业 转 型 ， 反 而 会 助 长 盲 目 扩 张 ， 粗 放 经 营 业 绩 （ 政 绩 ） 目 标 ， 搞 排 行 榜 崇 拜 ， 部 分 企 业 （ 和 地 方 政 府 ） 把 进 榜 定 为 政 绩 ， 是 一 种 有 害 的 倾 向 。

　 　 此 外 ， 针 对 中 国 是 否 应 建 立 自 己 的 企 业 竞 争 力 评 价 标 准 的 问 题 ， 国 务 院 发 展 研 究 中 心 研 究 员 张 政 军 认 为 ， 用 营 业 收 入 指 标 作 为 评 价 体 系 比 较 直 观 ， 容 易 比 较 。 同 时 ， 他 也 承 认 ， “大 ”的 标 准 容 易 确 立 ， “强 ”的 标 准 却 很 难 制 订 。 “单 凭 几 个 财 务 指 标 不 能 反 映 企 业 的 竞 争 力 ， 这 些 指 标 很 容 易 受 景 气 周 期 的 影 响 。 ”张 政 军 说 ， “尤 其 是 过 去 的 业 绩 不 代 表 未 来 ， 而 客 观 讲 ， 相 当 一 些 中 国 大 企 业 还 缺 乏 真 正 的 危 机 历 练 和 检 验 。 ”
