Yes, save this, but I am not telling you whether after 15,000, how far will it correct downwards, and whether it will be there for sometime. OK?

I bought DOW stocks not because people in SJ shorted DOW.  I bought because I am a believer that DOW will be surpassing its historic high.  This time 15,000+++.    I might be wrong, but I am believing it.  Maybe you want to call me a pig or a fool, but eventually you will become one and I would be the  one to laugh the most. Hahaha.

Actually knowing something already is no secret.  The big secret is hidden.  You know what I know and I know what you know, what is the point?  Ask Iso, he will tell you short arh, huat arh.  I say can short and can also long whenever you see the chance to do either one.    Just like the Hedge funds, they long long term (and sometimes short-term too)  and they short short term (and sometimes long term too)

My 2 cents ... I doubt this rally will last ... all the problems unsolved and growing how to sustain the rally ?

Even when got bad news , dow somemore manage to recover the losses ... damn suspicious leh , like some1 purposely pushing the prices up to lure retailers like everything ok liao. I doubt we will see a historic high , neither will we see a historic low , probably just a new low...

Feel free to comment...

Hi, I am back. Went  Genting Higlands for a short holiday.  Made a few hundred dolars from jackpot machines,  enough to cover the trip and some makan.

Surprise to see my DOW making me a couple of thousand dollars (US$) again for a few counters I bought recently. Sold my balance shares of   Bank of America (BAC) for a clean profit when I bought below US$6.00 and sold an average price of $6.50.  But it went to US$7.02 last night, missed some great profit.

Luckily never shorted,  otherwise.. ..OK, don't mention as some shorters will be angry and call you fools!.

Now looking at HSBC ADRs, (HBC) bought 1000 shares last night at US$38.45.  Looks good. DOW is gaining strength. Fortune will be made and lost by many soon...

Are you continually making a profit on balance?  If you are making trading as a full time job, then that is your occupation and your income is taxable accordingly, and  what you gained are similar  to any job income. Your chargeable income, after other claims must be declared..  Yes if you are earning on stocks (not counting capital appreciation, but only  on round trips)  full time, you must declare the income in your tax returns.

doggydoodoo      ( Date: 10-Jan-2012 11:47) Posted:

The IRAS website mentioned that profit from the stock market is taxable or untaxed on a case to case basic that what made it so unclear.

Now, I am retrenched in 2008 and has been trading full time since. Stock trading is my pri income....

settowin      ( Date: 10-Jan-2012 11:18) Posted:

I am no tax consultant, but you don't pay taxes trading stocks in itself.  You pay taxes only when you make profits on stocks traded (bought and sold)  calculated at end of the year. The taxes that you are liable will be based on personal income for the year.  That's say you made $24000 a year on trading stocks, and your other income working or passive is say $20,000, then your total income for the year will be $44,000.00.  What you will pay in taxes will be your chargeable income after deducting all your expenses that has been used for creating the income.  Dividends are also income but if taxed at source would be considered as  taxes paid.   I am assuming that you are trading on a personal basis and not on a corporate account.  You can visit the IRAS website for info

You can be sued in many ways writing in a forum such as SJ, but not be sued  by telling people to don't do something.  How to get sued is simple, that is   to state categorically something libellious about someone by name.  You can be traced via the computer you are using. You can also be sued or counter-sued  in many ways by a good lawyer.  OK?

Yeah, but you like to blare at others for their assumed faults while when you made wild claims that never happened later on, you don't even admit you were wrong in your predictions.  Don't say who can be sure will be millionaaire, the important thing is don't anyhow blah blah and assume too much about the market.  I notice that everything you wrote is like you are very cock  sure one.  You too much, don't you think so?

Do we have to pay income tax for earning from the stock market?

The IRAS website is not very clear, they said frequent trader, big volume or something need to pay.

If my total holding in shares in about $300K, trade weekly. Am I liable for tax on return in shares??

There is potential to make big money in this counter.  Look for signs of turning up and invest well.  I did some buying at 0.064.  Will  keep it and forget that I have this counter. Patience is needed in investing in stocks, and you need to know what you and the company are in for. You can lose, but not that much, but you can win alot if the profitability is confirmed possible  in the months ahead.

STI always poor showing.  Any good  leads coming from outside will not cause a quick reaction, as always. A bad news outside will.  Now the world stage is still harping unnecessarily on some financial issues for  too long.  Things to watch will be an escalating conflict with Iran and if it occurs will it spike the world  stock markets? Think so..
