Although leverage is a useful tool, don't be afraid by these scary talk. It is not rocket science. The day my previous broker changed my account to a margin account some years back, he did not even teach me how to do it. I just did it

iPunter      ( Date: 04-Apr-2010 13:56) Posted:

If you are 'not savvy' as you said, why on earth are playing with fire by shorting (or longing for that matter)?

You should seek to educate yourself first.

You can start educating yourself by setting aside an amount of money which you can definitely afford to lose., say $10,000?

Then you can long or short to your heart's content, until you lose the $10,000. I assure you you will, it's only a matter of time.

But I would like you to trade smartly by brushing up on chart reading and risk management before you commit even a dollar.

Once you have lost a certain amount of money, you are then rich with stock market experience. But learning is endless, especially when it comes to mastering yourself 9as opposed to mastering the market). Smiley

i am fine with PR coming to singapore they wanna be permanant residents i welcome them...but what i cant understand is why the HDB earning ceilling cap is still peg at 8k (for new flat n hdb loans)Its been this amount since forever and come on now the flats are all getting more ex even the new ones. so how can they expect the people earning slightly more den 8 k can afford to pay for anything??Condo small unit 1 mil liao. 5 room flat over 500k .new flat can go as high as 280 290 k. count yourself lor. how is it possible to remain that price???Dun tell me EC cause EC who can afford now???600k new siao.

I say time to revise and up the earning cap. our money value is decreasing at an alarming rate. those who used to earn 8 k had a very luxurious life...now earn 8 k just enough to cover day to day expense. OKIE.

i punter u used to be a newbie yourself... one need to play to learn just like Mahjong. first learn basic den learn to make big tiles den learn how to guard others lastly see what others throw and den learn to interpret what they r waiting. plus the risk of throwing a tile etc. all these must sit at table to learn. whatever the case playing stock market or playing mj hard n fast rule for me...dun play with what u dun have. den wont have to die

iPunter      ( Date: 31-Mar-2010 19:38) Posted:

Many people have died (committed suicide) because they playing the stock market.

Stock trading is not an adventure. It is a serious business and a serious job.

To succeed in any serious job, one has to be well-trained. The reason why so many committed suicide when playing stocks is simply that they are not properly prepared to do stock trading. It needs special training... in technique as well as in psychology

Thus, this is why I always discourage newbies from playing stocks.
