If looking into investments related to credit linked notes, read below extract and dont get cheated.  Just for sharing .:)

It is easy to be cheated (3) - Credit linked notes

Many retail investors have lost large sums of money by investing in the credit linked notes, such as the minibonds, pinnacle notes, high notes and the jubilee notes.

Several financial institutions sold these credit-linked notes to their customers. The customers were told that their monies were invested in a basket of bonds issued by highed rated companies. The chance of failure of any of these reference entities was small, and even if it materialises, their loss will only be a proportion of the invested capital, due to the diversification of the risk.
This turned out to be an incorrect description of the actual nature of the notes. The invested capital was actually used to provide the security for credit default swaps on the reference entities. If any of these entities failed, the entire capital would be lost. Instead of diversifying the risk of failure, they are taking six to eight times of the risk of failure of any single entity.
The capital was actually invested in other assets that carry their own credit risk. This adds to the total risk of loss of the capital.
The actual structure of these notes were contained in several hundred of pages of a prospectus and pricing statments. The documentation was not clear, even to knowledgeable financial experts who spent many hours to read them. Many people feel that these documents are written to conceal the real nature of the structured products.
The actual return received by the product issuer was considerably higher (due to the extremely high risk) than the yield of 5% given to the retail investors. These excess gain was earned by the issuers but was not disclosed in any documentation. There were several devices created to hide or siphon off these profits.
Due to the global recession, many credit linked notes failed, causing severe losses to the retail investors. The dishonest act was in the creation of these products, attempts made to hide the true nature of the risks and to siphon off the excess return to the product issuer.
Most distributors of these products were not aware about the true nature of the products and had negligently misrepresent the products as being safe for retail investors. They were only focused on generating large volume of sales to earn an attractive rate of commission.
To avoid being cheated, it is important for retail investors to avoid all types of structured products, especially in an regulatory environment that is weak in protecting retail investors.

2) Looking into those 'reliable'  mid-term investment such as unit trust , though , still a little  fearful of putting money into wrong hand.  Anyone got good recommendation?

Citibank has some recommendation but, is this the bank for us singaporean?

Singaporeans still not as Tech savvy as those in china......most of the handphones are not being fully utilised but, we are paying such a high price for those unused or unnecessary features on the handphone.......

""Unlike in Singapore where we tend to use the mobile phone for conversations, SMSes or email, users in China like those in Japan and South Korea tend to use mobile phones for a greater variety of purposes such as the downloading of video, music or even movies due to the longer daily commutes or long distance travel. Eventually, 4G systems will be able to offer transfer speeds of up to 1 gigabit/sec compared to only 100 megabits/sec in Singapore." (I gigabit = 1,000 megabits) ""

Ha ha, talking about DOW10k cum STI just x 2700, a not bad moment to celebrate. Below just rcv fr email, for sharing:

Chinese Value Stocks!  In DOW???

China's rapid economic growth will be the global story of the foreseeable future.  Like the Japanese in 1980s, the Chinese are shopping for Hummer, IBM PC division, natural resources and real estate, etc.

In addition to growth, many investors look at emerging markets such as China as potential protection against falling dollars. No one wants to lose money any more after the market crash of last year, but neither can anyone afford to miss out potential huge growth ahead. Money is flying back to Chinese stocks causing valuations to rise rapidly.  Are there still windows of opportunity left?

I went though all Chinese stocks listed in U.S. stock exchanges with market cap greater than $1 billion. Below are 19 with positive P/Es (sorted by P/E):

The top 9 stocks in the list have a P/E ratio of less than 18. They seem to still be reasonably priced, even though some of them have bounced back more than 400% from their 52-week-lows. These 9 inexpensive stocks are in 3 sectors: commodity, technology and railroads.

Commodity

ACH, SNP, YZC, PTR and CEO are all commodity related. Although the worst is likely behind the commodity sector, weakness might persist as long as excess supply does.

A study published in Journal of Investing, spring 2009 issue found that adding a significant allocation to commodities substantially improves portfolio performance. The performance is more dramatic for indirect investment via the equities of companies than for direct investment in the commodities themselves. Gold consistently provides a greater benefit than either platinum or silver. The findings are consistent during much of the 34-year study period.

Below are comparisons between Chinese oil & gas stocks to Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM). As you can see, Chinese oil giants don’t have a clear advantage over Exxon Mobil:

With a higher operating margin and a much lower debt load, CHL is clearly in a much better position. Also, it doesn’t have huge goodwill sitting in its balance sheet, like AT&T does. The Goodwill results in AT&T’s negative Net Tangible Assets.

SOHU and SNDA both have much higher growth rates than CHL, though they also have higher short ratios.

Railroads

Below is a comparison between Guangshen Railway (GSH) and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. (BNI).  No wonder Warren Buffett prefers BNI.

The most popular one is FXI, which owns 25 mature, state-owned and too-big-to-fail Chinese companies listed in Hong Kong.

Small Cap

Superior growth usually comes from small to mid-cap stocks. I lowered the criteria to include any profitable Chinese stocks with a market cap greater than $100 million. Jinpan International Ltd. (JST) engages in the design and manufacture of cast resin transformers for voltage distribution equipment in China. Its P/E is 9, PEG is 0.56, debt/operation cash flow is less than 1, and short ratio is very low. However, the market cap is only $250M.
Conclusion

Investors usually have short-term memories. We seem to be driven by the most recent market rally, conveniently forgetting the lessons of last year. Hot markets eventually cool, and most investors don't catch on until it's too late.

Investors do have a habit of buying hot stocks. If a stock can be up 400% over the last 12 months, it could also be down 75% in the next 52 weeks. However, if you can tolerate this kind of risk, and have a very long invest horizon, you might want to consider these profitable and still relatively inexpensive Chinese companies presented above.

If look at the chart, it looks like a forming of  Doji where open price and close price at its highest (0.245).  This occur when there is a market turning point.   Any expert want to comment on this?   Previously, was like tug-of-war.

This is a good fundamental stock. I am out for it.

Rule #1 - Be cool and calm when you due with shares.

I dont say things directly you have to digest it and think carefully. Whats my true meaning. Well of course there are times i am quite direct. Today I say RafflesEdu I have contributed both ways. Already buy and sold my shares. I did tell people it has to cross 0.44 to go higher and seems no one willing to take over those shares @ 0.44 a sell down is coming. sigh

Phillip securities quite 'bearish' of STI...........

Technical Analysis – STI Facing Downside Risk Tuesday, 8 December 2009 The odds in the equity market now are stacked in favour of the bears. The S&P 500 continues to show a divergence and the Dollar has spiked after rejecting strong support in the 74.50 to 74.00 region that we mentioned. There is also a divergence present in the STI. We continue to maintain the view that we will see weakness in the STI in the short term and advise investors to stay out of longs. S&P 500, Daily, 5 December 2009 Source: Bloomberg, Phillip Securities Research Friday’s (4Dec09) close for the S&P 500 has negative implications despite a slightly positive close. This is the third day that the S&P 500 has pushed to new intraday highs to reject it strongly. Friday’s range was also greater than the previous 3 sessions. This makes the high (1119) and low (1096) short term breakout trigger levels. The odds right now are stacked towards the bear camp. We have a prolonged RSI divergence, multiple rejections of intraday highs, in addition to a weakening CRB and strong Dollar. The market looks like its setting up for weakness in the short term. However, it is too early

NokiaX6  looks cool and sleek but, it is a fully touch screen phone and i am not a touch-screen lover.   Will go for sony ericson 'Aino' because it is a 'semi-touch screen' - only some features are touch screen... its pretty cool and its colour is 'luminous white' combine with black.  Very rarely you can see this kind of 'white' handphone in the market.  :)
