CIMB -

• Maintain Overweight on FSSTI, we raise our FSSTI end-CY10 Index target from 3,160 to 3,300.

We maintain our Overweight stance on Singapore. Last week, the Singapore government released sterling 1Q10 GDP figures (+13.1% yoy, +32.1% qoq), the strongest sequential growth in three decades. Our economist promptly raised his 2010 real GDP forecasts from 6.5% to 9.4%. As one of the most open economy, Singapore has been the first to go into recession and also shown the strongest momentum on the rebound. Our new FSSTI target is based on a bottom-up methodology and now implies 15.2x CY11 P/E, similar to implied 15.1x P/E earlier in December. This reflects the earnings upgrade in cyclicals we have seen in the past 1-2 months. • S$ appreciation from here. At the same time, the MAS 1) re-centred its exchange rate policy to the prevailing level of the S$NEER and 2) resumed a modest and gradual appreciation policy (previous: 0% appreciation). This is equivalent to a onetime hike and a guidance that the S$ will strengthen further.

• Winners from a strong S$ are Property, Media, Gaming and Banks. Beneficiaries of a stronger S$ are 1) S$-asset plays; 2) businesses with domestic revenues and US$-costs. Banks are less clear proxies to the trend of S$-strength (since interest rates will be capped), they gain from a revival of loan volumes and fee opportunities but S$ interest rates will be capped. As yields get depressed, we think yield plays will also gradually grind up. Telcos are also more mixed as Starhub and M1 will be benefit, but SingTel has translation negatives. Similarly, for Transport, SIA and SMRT gains but ComfortDelgro and NOL have negatives

. • Losers from a strong S$ are Conglomerates and Tech. Losers from a stronger S$ stand out as 1) exporters; 2) businesses with US$-based revenues and domestic cost base; and 3) companies who have expanded operations to countries with weaker currency prospects. Chongqing is a rural area yet to be explored and where can we see property bubble happening so fast?

The worrying ones are Shanghai 's propertpy price (150% increased from 2003 till now), Tianjing and prerhaps, Beijing.......

I wld think it  depends on where and when, does the real estate company invest in the development of land in and, in  which area of china that matters.

GS saga is a Obama lesson o those "too big to fail" to defy his orders not to pay out big bonuses. But they ignore him. This is a president who will do whatever he can to go into history of America as a "people" president. If he can't get GS to listen to him in one way, he will get GS to listen in other ways. But do you think Obama will shot himself in the foot to shake up the market again by punishing these disobedient companies? I believe the world needs something bigger than this to repeat the shockwaves of 2007. Smiley

pharoah88 - your below post, interesting.:)

""".......In essence, Beijing's policies have acted like the relief valve on a pressure cooker: They've kept the U.S. pot from exploding..

Washington also frequently points to Beijing's $2.4 trillion in foreign reserves as additional evidence that China is a manipulator. This, too, represents flawed logic. Trade reserves accumulate whenever a country sells more than it buys with its partners. Therefore, China's huge reserves are not evidence of currency manipulation; instead it's just proof that the rest of the world really wants to buy what China has to sell...........".

'包青天' is here frm monday to friday, Washinton or Beijing got whatever 冤情 , go to him for justice.

I am shocked you only realise now !!!  This is the main purpose of IPO.....if not why waste time to list.  Ya.....share wealth........sure ??

When a company go IPO, the performance is at its peak. Owner not sure if they can sustain growth.

That why I seldom buy IPO that NAV is way below the IPO price. The NAV itself also fact in goodwill hor......

Put it this way, going IPO is like selling used item in Ebay......things that you DON'T WANT.

Ikea is a very successful company, they are not listed.  Is Sheng Siong listed (for now) ?

I literally cannot find any stocks to buy.

The recent STI crossing the 3,000 mark has made all good stocks rise to a level that I consider too late to Buy.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm turning my attention towards US market starting tonight.

blackstreams      ( Date: 14-Apr-2010 23:34) Posted:

Touch wood but I don't think $5 is a problem. The number of short sellers have recently dropped dramatically. Predictions for the stock go as high as $12 in 2012. Dividends are also forecasted to rise by the end of the year. That's an opportunity to treble my money in 1-2 years and they're paying me to wait. Cheers.

Got feeling some bad drivers purposely jerk the bus and some even peep thru the rear mirror see how the passengers react.

Cameras can solve all the problems.

Salute      ( Date: 15-Apr-2010 21:43) Posted:

Hi,

can you write to forum about the jerky busese. Many feel that I ever confront the driver. one indian driver was able to drive smoothly after that< but there are a couple of chinese drivers said bcs of this type of new bus.

To me it.s an effort as the buses of those I have brought up the problem to the drivers were the same models.

sigh!!!how come SBS mgt doesn't bother
