I am hoping the "BIG Battle"  (in the case of US)  is  - ''Those  who used  public office to steal from people, should be prosecuted for treason. "   This statement made by someone is best suited to fit into the big battle.

Billions of billions of dollars  were lost and millions became homeless and now is time to see how the while collar crime is being dealt with ,  1 by 1.

Probably it will be good to bargain for better price during world cup time or at least after having a clear idea about the financial condition of this counter when receiving the 1Q report.  Right now may not be advisable to step it...

China people (rural area) mostly use cash to fund their houses, only minimal %  (yuppies or more educated ones and living in modern provinces)   use banks' mortgages. Mortgages or bank lending not really big issue lar.

Global recovery better than expected: SM

SINGAPORE

Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, who said this in an interview with

The interview in Boao, Hainan Province, was published yesterday.

Mr Goh also said the stimulus package which China put in had also sustained the country’s economic growth, and that there was tremendous cooperation and information sharing. Through all these measures, a very much feared global recession similar to that in the 1930s had been avoided.

But while he is confident that there would not be a double dip recession now (sOunds like a STi GUARANTEE ?), Mr Goh admitted that the debt crisis in Greece does cause some worry. That’s because at this stage, it is not known if one or two other countries in Europe could also be in a similar problem.

But Mr Goh also noted that European countries and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) had moved in very quickly to help Greece. They would likewise do the same if another country runs into similar problems.

When asked about Singapore giving competition to Hong Kong in the tourism space with its integrated resorts, Mr Goh said it was not a zero sum game. — The global economic recovery is better than what most people had expected, and the stimulus packages put in place by all the countries affected by the crisis were effective.New Century Weekly, also said in the United States, for example, the recovery was much earlier than expected.MUS TAFA SHA FAWI

All the world's  volcanoes must be heavily guarded ,  so as to prevent  future 'man made' explosion of volcanoes in order to avoid such AIR disaster.   Imagine security guards guarding the volcanoes.

interesting,!   that means to say , you make 100% profit if company go delisted ?

But, wont the shares you borrowed from someone, that 'someone' has less share to sell?

star-trader      ( Date: 16-Apr-2010 20:51) Posted:

Short Sellers will own nothing,nil/zero.

When you short sell, you actually borrow the shares which in turn sell them in the stock market..If you want to relinquish your shares, you got to buy back the same number of shares to repay the person/brokerage whom you borrowed from. If you got back the shares at a much lower price which you first sold it, you will receive the difference, selling short is a method to profit from a stock that the price is falling. So what happen if the company is delisted or go bankrupt? It means that you don't have to pay back anyone because the shares are already not worth the value, or worthless..

Hope it clarifies or alternatively, check with your broker for a clearer picture on this.

I view MBS and RWS services are to supplement and completment each other.

They both will draw crowds that want to 'one stone kills 2 birds' to bring forth their stay here longer so as to enjoy 2 facilities with less than an hour of travelling .

My take is, if those important meetings (with country heads especially) are held at MBS, it is easier to CONTROL the crowd within the Marina Bay, for security reasons......you know what i mean?

Also, i view Sands' employees might be more professional for they may be transferred from Sands (US) while they were retrenched last year or so.  They made a loss in US to mostly Internet betting and they have heavily invested in here and out to make it big .

your make good points here :)  but,

One stone kills 2 birds.......AFter MBS opens, people will come here and visit 2 casinos, instead of one, so, I view MBS' opening as a 'good sign' to have people stay here for the 2 casinos and enjoy the 2 IRs .    :)

Why not??  they are both so near and all reacheable by public transport.

For time being  until the AGMs and  the rights issue, those folks from malaysia come here by bus/car or coaches and not by flights and not en-route from Europe.

Thailand problems will bring HOT money into our market for, thanks to our efficient government and its team to make singapore a 'paradise for investors' becos of its safe and stable political environment. Given the present chaos in Thailand, isnt s'pore a better place for stopping over?

Shanghai Expo is few months long, and are all of us going to be there for those few months long?   I will not, definitely ..............hahahah!

As the saying goes, sell in May and go away and  couple with the world cup, quiet market is expected (by general consensus !  I dont know if its going to be like that?  LOL!), but, as people say, correction is healthy?  so lets see whats going to happen on Genting.

As for the GS, Obama is on guard to set rules and regulations, we shall see how is he going to whip out his whip.........

Cheers!

Will this counter's share price go up to 1.23 under this kind of market conditions where:-

1.  Competition from MBS from end of April 2010

2.  Reduce of tourists to come to South East Asia due to the negative impact from chaos in Bangkok

3.  Air flights problem in Europe for coming to Singapore

4.  More tourists may choose to travel to Shanghai from following weeks due to the launching of Shanghai Expo

5.  The negative emotions of investors caused by implementing tight monetary policy in China, case of Goldman Sachs

6.  The potential of high expenses and deficit record show in Genting sp 1Q financial report

7.  The rumours and possibility of calling right issues

8.  Profit been affected due to the illegal gambling during the world cup competitions period in June 2010

Hope this counter can overcome all these challenges........????????

CIMB issued report today with a tabulted chart showing TP for genting 1.23 (but to be advised)

The other direct Index consumer play to benefit would be Genting Singapore.

Concern with negative translation effects from its UK operations is not going to be a

big drag as UK hardly makes money now and will be totally overshadowed by

earnings from RWS this year. Ownership of RWS makes Genting Singapore the most

significant consumer proxy in Singapore, with the caveat being that the government

stands ready to ensure that the S$ does not appreciate too fast to snuff out the

tourism initiatives that are all coming to fruition this year. Other auxiliary beneficiaries

from the tourism theme would be hotels (CDL-HT)
