if you play AG now, you might possibly have an upside still.... (to the last closing of 1.72). btwn AG and HB i take HB tho.

need to be very careful tho. investors still jittery. markets rebounded in morning but forced margin, profit taking and all coming in now. expecting market to close flat.

if this conts next few days be prep correction is here liao. might be better putting into the good blues. the 10c or whatever upside might perhaps not be worth the risk....(haven't seen TA yet tho.). shanghai turning back down again.

hey giantlow, sorry, but i'm just going to be honest here. hope you don't take it the wrong way. It's pure concern, ok? Pls don't get angry with me....

but as rational investors, i cannot understand why you're buying another warrant when you're stuck with one already. It does not make sense.

Livermore and kilroy are right. you live another day to fight another day. Weigh the risks and rewards carefully.

Please....

oh yea. i don't listen to chinese songs much, but i love their voices too. Like karen carpenter. so warm and so sad. They had what is known in chinese superstition as 'hu2 die2 ming4'--i.e., butterfly fates.

beegees. i like that christmas tree song....what's the title...think it's 'first of may' or something??

l_tan,

in response to your qn on the ag thread abt what FA counters to go into.

I'm personally vested in STE and EDMI. Holding them (esp edmi) for at least a year, so no worries.

Look up victorian's posts. He has exhaustive (and then some) research on FA counters.

I like SGX. Fibo gives its next wave to $9. Be prepared for volatility if you buy this stock tho.

O/w, for the props and reits, i'd pref Macqinf (good now at 1.02--its book value!), Kepland ('cos Kep has office space!). Always look out for SMRT and singpost.

not yet for the last three tho.

streettracks gold.

oh. and try to diversify. not good holding all from one industry, for instance. boom time good lah, but bust time you'd really go bust. I don't expect property boom to last beyond 2009-2011, the casino deadline.

China's olympics is in 2008. so steel and construction won't be necessary so much after that. If you can find me a stock to do with greenery selling to china, that's what i'd buy before the olympics. haha.

'cos after you build the stadium and athletes' villages, what else is needed? beautify the place mah. And beautify = plants. muah haha.

oh man, chinkiasu, is that a group hug? keke...i don't think we're that in need of therapy are we? haha.

ahhhh a doggie!!! so cute! i want! :))))) wld like either a really really small puppie (white and poofy and fluppily nua nua), or the wolf dogs. Ya know, the samoyeds, malamutts, huskies. Golden retrievers are suckers for affection. they'd do anything for a pat! Absolutely adorable as babies tho. keke. if you guys want girls' attention, get a golden retriever puppy. confirm plus guarantee. keke.

oh and about the old songs. actually i listen mostly to oldies. Grew up that way lah, can't help it. Plus, when you have to entertain and ppl want you to play the piano, they'll mostly request old songs anyway.

I like jazz a lot. Listen randomly across all genres tho. Fav songs: Dusty Springfield's version of Windmills of Your Mind, and Astrud Gilberto's The Shadow of your Smile. Ella Fitzgerald's My Funny Valentine. Julie London on Misty. Ooh, and Karen Carpenter's voice. It's just so warm and so sad....like it best on This Masquerade and Because We Are In Love. :) oh oh oh, and all the classic rock anthems man. can't beat the oldies for class. :)

what's everyone else's fav song? :)

act, if i had any spare cash left, i would. But i distributed my funds out alr tho. So will not be greedy. :)

Further info adding on and repeating from victorian's post:

EDMI's EPS is 3.99c vs 2.8c previously. NTA of 20.5c vs 16.9c previously.

So taking historical PE ratio of 2x, that means the stock is worth 41c. If you go by EPS ratio, then fair value is 43c. So both ways it tallies. Industry ratio is 2-3x, which means upside (taking 42c as consensus) is potentially to 61.5c.

by tech calculations based on previous year's range (16c to high of 35.5 recently), i'm giving it 46-55c in one year's time. Nicely cornered and out of punters' radar too, so no bleeding like so many other stocks today. SMB more volatile, that's why i pref EDMI. I get enough rollercoasters in my TA trades alr. keke.

smltimer, it's perhaps less of optimism more of logic? Shanghai strongly rebounded today, and since they were the lead cause of the global meltdown, its rise likely precipitates the rise of the regional indices.

Plus if you look at the actual buy/sell vols of some of the blues, there was quite a lot of big buy ups in the afternoon.

Lots of happy shortists at work today tho. could see them all over the price/vol chart. keke.

hm. yongjiu, abt cutting loss in today's market.

depends on what counter you're holding. If you're holding solid blues, you wouldn't cut, you'd in fact look to buy in more.

if you're talking TA trades, then actually, you'd have ran them yesterday already. The last two hrs of trading had huge institutional sells across the broad market, penny or blue. that was a cue to run like a bunnie already. Which was why i cut AG actually. Less profit than i wanted, but you need to see what is and not what you want to see in the market?

in this kind of market, hold your nerves and rationality tho. When others get crazy, all the more you need to be rational.

l_tan, no point blaming the chinese lah... In the past when the DOW led the STI, did you blame it? If you didn't, why blame china now? It's the rise of a new world order, and as traders, we simply follow the trend. No preference, no prejudice. Feel nothing about the market at all, except to see its reality.

hm...elf has one godpa already...that's enough....wonder what else can l_tan be. i'm gonna run out of relations soon man. keke. bunnie? i hope my pet's not chao ta man.....eep.

hey peeps, long posts on our favourite thread i see. :)

fairygal, yups, elf is fine. ran all TA trades yest already (only AG act. haha). sitting pretty on my two FA counters, which dropped less than their divvy yield. still net profit. keke.

chinkiasu, why do you always get to fly about? weh weh weh....i wanna go along too. :(((

singaporegal, this kind of market is a trending market, and a sharp trending one. don't even bother with TA. it's pure sentiment. You short in the morning (like i posted last night somewhere else) and buy back early afternoon, if not morning itself. ;)

anyhow, relax.... market's likely to rebound tomorrow. Both a tech rebound as well as 'cos Shanghai (the culprit) went strongly up today, plus their finance minister just spoke out to reassure investors. Coupled with that is that STI has no reason itself to drop. Global money has to go somewhere. It'll never just sit in the bank.
