I strongly believe this counter is a good buy now and to park in your money at this point in time (better than chasing after stocks and end up getting caught with the pants down and burnt)  for the mid to long-term for those who can see value in it and with patience as it has good FA (as at this point in time) but not for those who are short-term speculative trader mindset, however, dyodd n BOSAYOR and set your stop-loss as nothing is guaranteed.

Hi niuyear,

It is indeed interesting bcos if u know how to interpret it n combine with the vol, it reveals the sentiments of buyers and sellers tug-of-war.

In fact, I had created 3 threads dedicated to newbies under "General", "Trading Techniques":

1. "Learning TA" - websites where u can learn TA, inclusive of candlestick charting for free (but of course, TA is not infallible, thus need to set stop-loss)

2. "Some recommended good Trading and TA books" -  2 of which are "Japanese Candlestick Charting" by Steve Nison and "Candlestick Charting Explained by Gregory L. Morris", of course u can also buy TA books.

3. "Advices to newbies" particular the 3 golden mantras (which I formulated, distilled n condensed based on all my past knowledge n read-ups).

Stop-loss points are individual decisions and may take the following factors into consideration:

(1) Ability to read and interpret the candlesticks for reversal pattern.

(2) Individual threshold of pain (risk tolerance), ability to stomach up to what percentage of losses.

(3) Whether is a trader (short-term/mid-term) or investor (long-term) willing to ride thru the correction.

(4) Risk/reward ratio, whether price is near all-time low with limited downside risk and losses or price near or at all-time high with perceived higher risk than reward.

Hi jackpot2010,

Just fyi, their pricing for aluminium is on a cost-plus basis, so whether aluminium price up or down does not affect their bottom-line.

Jackpot2010      ( Date: 16-Oct-2009 15:10) Posted:

Getting contract is one thing but making profit on those contract is another. No one knows if their tender price was profitable under fierce competition + alumimium prices keep going up - will it hurt bottom-line down the road? What research analysts do is to write about contract award but clueless on its bottomline impact. Beware!

limkt009      ( Date: 16-Oct-2009 14:07) Posted:

Given Midas' recent success in contract ....Do you think it is still ok to loadup. Some are mentioning TP of $1.00.

I do agree with Bon3260. Going against each other is not constructive. Risktaker brings different perspective from the BB or whatever he represents.  We choose what to believe what benefits, what to chuck aside as trash. We are our own mind.

We should embrace different views. If everybody think the same, do the same, how boring can that be! Disagree with others from time to time is part and parcel of life.

Richtan's dilligent TA post benefits many. But I especially like that kiss lingering kiss Ms2600 goodbye post. It was so fun and good.

Let the forum flourish with people voicing  their joy, trepidation, grouse ....  unselfishly posting the lastest news, TA, EW, sharing ideas etc ...

Live and let live.

From AM Fraser:

Another Another exciting earnings driven rally could be in store but index gains unlikely to match April to May 34% breakout from 1700 to2300
and July to early August 21% rally from 2200 to 2700.

Being rather top-heavy in terms of index gains, up 88% from 1455 to2740 today, the market has not made a decisive breakout unlike the
last 2 reporting periods which saw spectacular surges.

Still the relatively minor breakout to new 2739.55 intra-day high today has met the lower end of 2740-60 interim objective and is a
good indicator that the STI is on course to test 2900 target area by year-end or early 2010.

Considering the tough 2700-2760 area which contains the last two support levels in early 2008 as well as the starting point of last
year’s September crash (from 2763 high) the market has taken time to build a strong base around 2550-2650 in last 2 months with low
at 2521 and high at 2707.

The long wait to finally clear 2700 is worth it and coming so early in the current earnings season raises hopes for a test of year-end
2900-3000 target as early as by mid-Nov when the season ends.

Besides acting as a historic hurdle (2892-2919) the 2900 area also marks the earlier starting point of the last leg of crash at
end-July when STI stood at 2929 vs 2763 when crash accelerated in early Sept.

Just like 2643 ie the half way mark between 3831 peak and 1455 bottom has seen the index see-sawing for several weeks up to this week,
the Fibonacci 61.8% mark of 2923 could be as tough or even harder than 2643 to be finally surmounted.

It may take 2 months or more of a higher consolidation base around 2650-2750 with downside/upside capped around 50 points before the
breakout to 2900 takes place.

By then it would be almost year-end, just nice for a pre-Xmas/ New Year rally. The modest 6.3% run-up from 2577 on Oct 5 to 2739.55
today should encourage sidelined players (seen from the lower turnovers amongindex heavyweights) to be more decisive when the
usual minor 2-4% pullbacks take place during the next 3-4 weeks or later after theearnings season ends when there could be a
short-lived lull in second half of Nov to early Dec before the year-end rally begins.
