Titanium dioxide Uses and Outlook

The main use of titanium dioxide (TiO2) is as a white powder pigment because of its brightness and very high refractive index. It provides good opacity to products such as paints, coatings, plastics, paper, inks, fibres, food and cosmetics. In particular, high performance grades of TiO2 are finding a growing market in the cosmetics sector.

Asia is the fastest growing market with projections of future growth rates of 6-7%/year. China, which has a demand of 650,000 tonnes/year, is seeing growth rates of 10%/year and above, according to producers. The largest amount of TiO2 consumption is in paints and coatings followed by plastics. Analysts forecast that China will represent 17% of global TiO2 consumption by 2010-2011.

India is the next power house with growth rates of 8-10%/year while demand is southeast Asia is growing at a healthy 4-6%/year. Vietnam also has strong growth but from a small base.

Jade Technologies Holdings says the company is undertaking a renounceable non-underwritten rights issue of up to 566,591,364 new ordinary shares at an issue price of 1 cent for each rights share on the basis of one rights share for every two existing ordinary shares held by shareholders.

It is raising funds to acquire a 20% stake in titanium dioxide producer Daqing XinLong Chemical Company for $7.83 million to reduce its reliance on coal mining.

Jade plans to pay for the acquisition by issuing new shares and corporate bonds and using cash. Jade says the net proceeds from the rights issue will sharply reduce the dilution that will be suffered by existing shareholders and enable the company to meet its future liability represented by the bonds.

Ha ha, good thinking. Ds is d way to go, esp u hv missed d ship earlier on ds burger. Many brother forumers n sifu were early birds then. Properly, they r now drinking coffee at d cosy corner liao.

What made u think so? AK guesses that u hope, thats a walk-over game n d game final score is undersubscribe. R offers at a ct/sh, worst scenario is 0.005 buyer px, history repeat again, less than few mths.

Above wild guess only, no calling.

For d last 3 mths, 10 coys had raised opt cap thro' R issue, mainly owing to improved market sentiment with their respective stock px pulling up fr bottom. And most importantly, some of them were unable to refinance, to pay their debts n bond n weak performance in d coy in d last few qtr.

For ds burger, its last burst of fire liao. It urgently need cash to pay for d bond going due soonest, no orther usage, ie acq, expension of biz etc.

Looking at the renounceable(can walk-over) n non-underwritten(no finance institute to bear d responsibility to buy in all left over R, after XR) Rights, its gonna be something like lelong also go difficulty, as retail investors like will chao liao, as they bought them lower than 4 cts lately.

Its mission is to acc 567m via R issue, minus away d admin fee of 270k, they thought they will hv 540m net for survival. Rather optimistic liao. Basing d abovementioned, AK opines that d path ahead is not smooth.
