Is it the same as last time - Private property dwellers dont get to enjoy most of the benefits.    WTF.

This is truly unfair system.

Should distribute according to  'AGE group',   not 'CLASS', those who are rich and dont require the money, could consider donating the money.

Singapore will hand out $6.6 billion in a package of benefits for its citizens, Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam said in his budget speech today.

The government will provide a $3.2 billion so-called Grow and Share plan for households this year and set aside another $3.4 billion for longer-term social investments to enhance Singaporeans’ “well-being,” he said.

Friends!  Dont forget this!

SGX implements all-day trading from March 1

THE Singapore Exchange (SGX) has decided that the fast pace of modern share trading means there is no longer time to stop for lunch.

The bourse operator on Tuesday said that on March 1, it is pressing ahead with its previously flagged controversial move to scrap its 90-minute lunch break.

This will allow trading to continue uninterrupted from 9am to 5pm.

In doing so, it will join the Korea Exchange, the Australian stock exchange ASX and India's National Stock Exchange in the region - all of which also have no break from trading during lunch-time.

SGX chief executive Magnus Bocker said the move will make Singapore one of the most accessible markets in Asia, and allow its trading hours to have more overlap with other Asian markets.

'Singapore's leading position as an international financial centre depends on its ability to stay nimble and meet customers' needs.

hahaha!    No need to doubt the property price to rise near term  .    Trust the life experience of those who buy and sell,    People selling at high price, people buying at high price..

If nation figure cant be trusted, then, shuold resort to 'life experience'  .

China property prices rise in Jan despite curbs

By ELAINE KURTENBACH
AP Business Writer

(AP:SHANGHAI) China says newly calculated data show property prices rose in most of its cities in January despite renewed efforts to cool the overheated market, with the biggest increases in smaller cities.

The National Statistics Bureau released data for 70 of the country's largest cities Friday that showed prices declining from a year earlier in only two cities and unchanged in five. It said that compared with December, 10 cities saw increases of 10 percent or more.

News this week of a change in how the data are reported raised eyebrows given its timing, since the trend of increases has remained stubbornly high despite various moves to discourage speculative property investments, including higher required down payments and limits on some types of purchases.

But analysts said the shift was expected and should provide a more accurate picture of market trends than the previous method.

" This improvement was delayed. It was supposed to happen a long time before," said Wang Qinwei, an analyst at Capital Economics in London. " For analysts, it's not a big change. People generally don't trust national data."

China's economic statistics have improved in recent years but still are viewed with skepticism by many experts. The government also announced this week a recalibration of its inflation figures to better reflect consumer buying patterns.

Property prices previously were calculated using a national average drawn from a survey of property developers. The new figures do not include a monthly national average price measure, but measure changes in prices based on data from government data registries.

The data showed prices for newly built housing increasing 6.8 percent in Beijing compared with a year earlier, while prices rose 1.5 percent in Shanghai. The largest increases were seen in provincial cities like southern Hainan Island's Haikou and Sanya, where they surged 21.6 percent and 19.1 percent, respectively. Further north, prices jumped 12.3 percent in central China's Ganzhou and 14.2 percent in Qiuyang.

By summarizing broader trends while providing more details of data for specific cities and specific types of housing, the government may manage to provide a clearer picture of how the market is evolving, said James MacDonald, head of research for Savills China in Shanghai.

" It isn't that the (previously reported) figures were accurate and the government decided to change them to mislead people," he said, noting that most people working in the industry were already using different, mostly locally reported data for their analysis.

STI - why red?

Too many short sellers in our market.

If one is engaged  in a stock  and if its a   blue chip, should buy on dip or low dip, to average down and minimise your loss and it should turn into profit.  :)

No buying of too many stocks at one goal and , avoid junk and penny stocks.
