Rex Technologies
According to the prospectus, the technologies were developed by the founders, Dr Karl Lidgren and Mr Hans Lidgren. It comprises of Rex Gravity, Rex Seepage and Rex Virtual Drilling.

Basically, it allows seismic responses to be interpreted and accurately pinpoints the exact location of oil reservoirs (sounds quite interesting to me but I am a layman). The application of Rex Technologies significantly reduces the need for exploration and appraisal drilling, thus reducing the time taken, risks and costs involved in the exploration process.

According to the prospectus, it has been 100% accurate in its prediction on 18 external tests conducted over the last 24 months and the success ratio for drills using the Rex Technologies has been in excess of 50% (that is pretty high in the Oil & Gas world)

Interest rate is set to rise..???. Just to make aware to home buyers.
With low interest rate n  record high home loan over the past several years  and  more higher gearing ratio to  debt. Singapore had started to set loan at 60%. Many new  home  buyers and investors will seen  dumping their properties because they can no longer can stay affordable to finance their properties, when interest rate goes up.

As many would be buyers is, eg - Iskandar is another  hot elephant, will it turn white..???., (will buyers take  those bite to purchase with a 50% increases spike??.) Good luck to those invested!.
M'sia has no way to revalue its currency upwards as seen  most recently as  compare to Singapore dollar  exchange rate.

Malaysian tycoon Vincent Tan has appointed several lenders, including UBS and Maybank Investment Bank, to manage an initial public offering of his 7-Eleven stores in M'sia that could raise up to US$200 million (S$254 million), the Dow Jones news agency cited people with knowledge of the process as saying.

Mr Tan has been looking to sell up to 49% in 7-11 (M'sia) and was exploring either an IPO or direct stake sale, one of the people said. The tycoon has opted for a public offer to unlock value.

While the exact deal size and timing are yet to be confirmed, the IPO could value the company as much as US$800 mil and take place later this year or next year.

Importance of ownership n technologies own,  for investors to consider when  investing.

Intuitively, it?s not hard to grasp  such idea  who have high stakes in the companies they run could help to align their interests with that of minority shareholders.

In other words, such technologies  can provide  added value n significant save cost.

Resilient one. Even during a recession

Key word here is ?mature?. By and large, defensive companies tend to not only be mature but also operate in mature sectors. Consequently, they are unlikely to require lots of cash to grow.

The upshot is that defensive companies tend to pay out a significant chunk of their profits as dividends to shareholders.

Singapore Healthcare

As of 7 August 2013 (Source: SGX My Gateway and Writer?s input)

From 2008 to 2012, FTSE ST Health Care Index (SGX: FSTAS4000) has returned 35% more than Straits Times Index (SGX: ^STI). Even though the FTSE ST Health Care Index does not include all of the  above stocks, it is a good representation of the quoted healthcare industry.
