Appropriate money cost averaging is one of the way of making money. That is for 100% sure!

Averaging down is a game only for

at least until one is expeert in trading...

That is the example of holding time applies for Investors but not for Traders. But if it will drop to < Sgd. 0.07, that would have been my money cost averaging applied to it!

Different stocks have their different holding time horizon for ripe time  riding of  their individual stock  total net profit.I have all my stocks holding horizon varying from as short as 3 months up to several decades even as long as whole life holding. Due to the fact that market is dynamic, so the holding time horizon might change accordingly as well.
AnthonyTan ( Date: 22-Jun-2011 10:02) Posted:
Can you clarify the term: for investor to hold, for how long
3 mths, 6 mths, 1yr,2 yrs, 3 yrs, 5 yrs, 10m yrs even if the stock is profitable.
As 1 forumer mentioned, paper loss is actual money lost.

Always try to buy in the cheapest as much as you can aford and to sell out the most expensive as many as market can absorb that is the most ideal for profit optimization of stock investment prime and basic principle, but unfortunately, only a few Investors dare to implement this methodology!

Hulumas, i like your style man,  buy cheap  on fear and when everyone is fearing s-chips.....and if you happen to hit the real bottom, you might be the next billionaire in the making, who knows?
Let the time tells and betting on the may or may not.

Today's market is no more like in the past...

economic cycles based on organic supply-demand
as we know them simply do not exixt anymore.
                                    Today, 'freakonomics' rule the day...

I am afraid, you lack of FA evaluation practices and experiences by saying that. FA and TA are both the helping tool for our stock investment practices, they are in fact, complementary each other!
iPunter ( Date: 22-Jun-2011 08:19) Posted:
There's really no such thing as " using FA" ...
Since solid stocks can also go up and
          down like nobody's business.
But one can use a stock chart as an investment tool...

Amithaba. . . None of your mentioned S-chips are in my stock investment selection portfolio yet. Also, I have more than 10 different appropriated S-chips (broadly diversification) in my stock  investment portfolio!
Perhaps, you have made two mistakes from investing S-chips:
1. Appropriate entering time and prices.
2. Lack of S-chip diversification.
While you have done something right on time:
Cut loss! |
