Anwar's bid for Power..? by Sept 16, 2008. with a max of 60 days to election date. http://news.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne%2BNews/Malaysia/Story/A1Story20080802-80185.html
Meanwhile PAS rejected UMMO offer to form coalition with a mean to it term that stated PAS would agree to work with Ummo if the implementation of strict Islamic laws is accepted, including stoning and cutting of hand for stealing, a pretty criminal and
here PAS form a political alliance with PKR and with DAP (three parties Pakatan Alliance), needless to say..how will it ever work to implement those strict Islamics laws. Is only a married of convenient, if not for power and greed. then what..?.

Singapore's Venture profit falls on investment losses
By Jennifer Tan
SINGAPORE, Feb 15 (Reuters) - Contract electronics firm Venture (VENM.SI: Quote, Profile, Research) posted a 5 percent slide in quarterly earnings on Friday, hit by losses from its investment portfolio, and warned that business may be tough in the year ahead. But Venture, Singapore's second-largest contract electronics maker after Nasdaq-listed Flextronics International Ltd (FLEX.O: Quote, Profile, Research), said that in spite of the fickle economic and financial environment, the motivation to outsource manufacturing remained strong for many U.S. and European companies.
"The environment will probably remain challenging for at least the first half of this year," Venture Chief Executive Wong Ngit Liong told a media and analyst briefing.
"We can help these companies achieve cost reductions."
The company's stock has been hammered by investor fears that a U.S. recession will crimp consumer demand, but most analysts are optimistic that the its focus on higher margin products such as health-monitoring gadgets would provide a buffer from the worst of the economic slowdown.
Venture said that its marked-to-market losses from collateralised debt obligations, or CDOs, amounted to S$16.2 million in 2007.
The company earned S$74.3 million ($52.6 million) for the three months ended December, compared with S$78.3 million in the same period a year ago.
The results were slightly above a mean net profit estimate of S$73.4 million from three analysts polled by Reuters.
For 2007, Venture reported net profit of S$300 million, up 25 percent from 2006 and in line with a mean net profit estimate of S$299 million from 14 analysts polled by Reuters Estimates.
Venture makes printers for Hewlett-Packard Co Ltd (HPQ.N: Quote, Profile, Research), the world's largest computer and printer maker, which accounts for about a quarter of the Singapore's company's sales.
It also produces hard drives for computer storage firm Iomega Corp (IOM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and networking devices for electronics and testing equipment maker Agilent Technologies Inc (A.N: Quote, Profile, Research).
Other products include radio-frequency communication products, handheld devices, health-monitoring equipment and vehicle safety sensors.
Last month, Flextronics posted a quarterly profit that beat expectations and stuck to its earnings forecasts, buoyed by robust demand for products such as LCD TVs, digital cameras and MP3 players.
Venture shares fell 22 percent in the October-December quarter, compared with a 7.9 percent gain in rival Flextronics stock and a 18 percent fall in Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd (2317.TW: Quote, Profile, Research). (Reporting by Jennifer Tan; Editing by Jan Dahinten) |

'No change on Pedra Branca' - S'pore Foreign Ministry.
For more info: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/beritamalaysia/message/104227
This comes after Dr Balaji Sadasivan, :Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, said this week that S''pore would pursue its territorial claims over the waterssurrounding the island, :which was previously the subject of a legal dispute with Malaysia. Spore would announce "at an appropriate time" the precise coordinates of the territorial sea and exclusive economic zone (EEZ) that it is claiming around Pedra Branca.
"Singapore first stated its claim to a territorial sea limit that extends up to a maximum of 12 nautical miles and an Exclusive Economic Zone in a MFA Press Statement on 15 September 1980. . "This was reiterated in another MFA Press Statement on 23 May 2008 following the International Court of Justice (ICJ) judgment on sovereignty over Pedra Branca and Middle Rocks. . "As stated in both press statements, should the limits of our territorial sea or Exclusive Economic Zone overlap with the claims of neighbouring countries, Singapore will negotiate with those countries with a view to arriving at agreed delimitations in accordance with international law." Meanwhile
Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman, an MP from Johor, said it showed that the republic did not respect the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling in May.
"I'm opposed to it, and I appeal to Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim to avoid bowing to the demands of Singapore's leaders who do not respect the sensitivities of neighbouring countries," she was quoted as saying by Utusan Malaysia.
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin, who is also an MP from Johor, said Singapore's actions were not in keeping with the Asean spirit of neighbourliness.
He regretted that Singapore did not consult Malaysia before making known its stance. He repeated Malaysia's stand that Pedra Branca was a rock, not an island, and thus not entitled to an EEZ.

Cross my mind. what Malaysia foreign ministry said (Mr Rais Yatim). It mentioned with (new) evidence. there could be other strong, compelling reasons under inter-national law to rebut it, which mean although, it might cease to be of operation if they are shown not to have been operating in the Ialand for 100 years. It could be that way too.
Now can we say we operating on Pulau Pisiang for more then 100 years, can we oso start claiming Palau Pisaing stn (the station) instead of the island...???. |

| Kencana Agri may fall on debut trade in SGX, as Indonesia-based CPO producer not expected to escape selling pressure in face of falling oil prices. Kencana offered 200 million new shares at $0.305 each (4.6X FY07 P/E), comprising 199 million placement shares, 1 million shares for public. Plantation stocks on SGX down lately as investors concerned CPO prices will stay soft due to recent oil price decline. "The timing is bad as (the listing) is coming at a time when palm oil counters are really getting hammered by the fall in oil prices," says local house trader. Adds public tranche heard 40X subscribed, but placement tranche "only just covered". Company plans to use $6 million net proceeds to buy land, build mills, repay loans. |
