All credit to mother of all financeial crises..Sub-prime credit woes is d worst...It superceded even financial crises of 1997.

This wave is catching us on liao.....old way of doing business as usual is out...Big or small, all banks concern is restructuring, un-profit one with huge dept is 1st to go liao, unprofitable one is chop n cut or bot over, can see another potential banker like HSBC going for it as well, when BoA can do it..

Each Merrill share will be exchanged for 0.8595 shares of Bank of America stock, according to Bank of America's statement. That works out to $29 a share, based on Bank of America's closing price of $33.74 on Sept. 12. Because the payment is in stock, Merrill shareholders would get less if Bank of America's share price falls. The deal is scheduled to close in the first quarter of next year.

I am not sure if Temasek classified as special case, well, if not, Temasek investment of ML will be purely depend on Bank of America share price performance.... so, Sep 12, BOA share is $33.74... let's watch the price movement from this level... for past 3 months, the share price holds pretty well..

Congratulation Temasek.... if they sell $29, Temasek would be more than happy, and said, that's it man, they earn 38% with their billions of dollars investment with less than a year....

If you are the lucky one who got it at price of $17, congratulation, that's 70% jump for 1 day investment....

Bank of America to buy Merrill - reports

Soon after its talks to acquire Lehman Brothers broke down, Bank of America moves to scoop up Merrill Lynch.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Bank of America agreed to buy Merrill Lynch in an all-stock deal valued at as much as $50 billion, according to several reports.

The purchase price would value the company at more than $29 a share, at least a 70% premium from Merrill's closing price on Friday of $17.05.

Get a GURU...to made them less trouble in their mind...Relax lorr..., been too expert knowing get themself into trouble, so look to our cpf got less return liao and oso we has to work O/T till beyond 65 for those losses they made on so call...their very talented ppl's and very no ordinary ppl's who is constantly monitering those invested angmo bank and insitiutional stocks. likely they still happily enjoying sleeping along.....ZZzzzzzz, knowingly they has jump in on 1st opportunity. I see d grp investment chief officer doing explaination on B half of.......U and i joyly knew who make decision.

I'm not a Temasek supporter but think about this - despite having suffered losses from their stakes in ML and UBS, in the long term, it may have been an excellent choice to buy into these 2 companies. It is only during this global financial crisis that a golden opportunity can arise for Temasek to buy into these large financial monsters.

This will probably never happen again.

Going pte mean more to selling gas and electcity to us at market prices, Temasek Holding just sold a power stn for amost S$4 billion.

Singapore Government is a fair government (unlike others)... remember the power supply tarriff is reviewd every 3 months ? It was just reviewed in July 08, to be $ 0.2507 , so, the next round of review would be next month Oct 08... if the oil price is still below USD 110.... you will 100% expect to see the tariff coming down..

anyway, that money (tariff difference) can be saved easily if you make sure you eat 3 meals as chicken rice... (hope you know what I meant)..

Should Bank of America save Lehman? reports suggesting that BoA may take over the embattled investment bank, Wall Street debates if purchase is worth the risk.



NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Bank of America has apparently emerged as the likely "white knight" bidder for Lehman Brothers.

But since the nation's largest retail bank earlier this year already made the bold move to buy Countrywide, is adding another battered financial institution a good idea?

Wall Street appears to be guardedly optimistic about the possibility of a BofA/Lehman deal.

Shares of BofA (BAC, Fortune 500) were flat in early trading Friday even though Lehman's (LEH, Fortune 500) stock tumbled another 11% and several other financials fell as well.

I read the wallstreet news, they are talking ML side by side with Lehman brothers...

If you follow Temasek to buy at $48, that's 60% loss now.... if Temasek can make such a huge mistake, who will not ?

sound like I have to agree Jim Roger on the pesismistic outlook for US banking sector, but his bullish idea on China market and Commodities also cannot survive lately...

sound like no one is right, only Soros, ha ha ha
